Cuomo Nursing Home Scandal Requires Federal Investigation
State Covid 19 policies caused thousands of deaths
With over five thousand deaths in New York Nursing homes attributed to the Chinese Corona Virus, the people of New York deserve answers. Governor Andrew Cuomo issued several executive orders which directed nursing homes to take in those who were Covid positive rather then provide treatment in temporary field hospitals. Many of the nursing homes lacked personal protective equipment and suffered from inadequate medical care. The Governor's Health Department actually allowed Covid positive nursing home employees who were asymptomatic to continue to work in their facilities. Only once it became apparent that the virus was sweeping through the state's nursing homes, did the Governor finally require nursing homes to report deaths attributable to the virus.
It is without question those in nursing homes were the most vulnerable and susceptible to death from the virus yet the Governor was more concerned with releasing criminals from New York jails. Then when he is exposed for his failures, he then seeks to use the power of the state to target the very entities that followed his directives. The most recent example is when Cuomo refused to approve an additional gas pipeline based on his extreme NY Green New deal. His action created a shortage of natural gas which in turn forced utility companies to place a moratorium on new gas hook ups. Instead of acknowledging the economic principle of supply and demand, the Governor sought to revoke National Grid's certificate to operate in NY and later forced the company through the state's Public Service Commission to pay a fine for their actions.The actions of the Governor and his administration must be investigated. They cannot be investigated by his own state Health Department or his politically charged Attorney General. The investigation must be independent and impartial. This can only be accomplished by Federal authorities. The families deserve nothing less.
