Two Nassau Towns vote for Salary increases

Earlier today, town boards in Hempstead and Oyster Bay voted for salary increases. Council members in the town of Hempstead will receive $4500 more per year bringing their salary to $71,000 and Supervisor Murray will receive an additional $10,000 more per year bringing her salary to $160,000. This comes on top of raises last year in the amount of $5000 for council members and $10,000 for the Supervisor.

In Oyster Bay, council members voted for a $5000 raise bringing their annual salary to $57,500. Supervisor Venditto received a $15,000 raise bringing his annual salary to $140,000.

NYC Mayor seeks multiple tax increases!

Looking to close a 4 billion dollar budget deficit, Mayor Bloomberg has proposed increasing the city's sales tax, repeal the tax ban on the first $110 for clothing, and a host of new taxes. Does the vampire state really need more blood from taxpayers?

Williston Park Civic holds open house!

The Williston Park Civic Association held its first open house at the American Legion Hall on Willis Ave. The meeting drew more then 125 residents including the North Hempstead Receiver of Taxes, Rocco Iannarelli and two village trustees. Several issues were addressed involving quality of life and tax issues. Members of the Nassau County Civic Association's board also attended. We would like to thank the Williston Park Civic Association and the residents of Williston Park for their hard work and service not only to the residents of Williston Park but to all of Nassau County.

The Nassau County Civic Association will gladly add your civic organization to our list of civic organizations and will consider any request to publicize your next meeting.

Three Nassau Towns seek property tax increases!!

If taxes were not high enough, all three towns have budgeted for property tax increases. Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray is seeking one of the highest property tax increases at 6.58%. Town of Oyster Bay Supervisor John Venditto has proposed a 2.8% property tax increase and Town of North Hempstead Supervisor John Kaiman is seeking a 2% property tax increase. Please call your town board to oppose any property tax increase. *Note-Property tax increase by the TONH may be as high as 12%.
