The Left Fueled the Attack on Trump

Dehumanizing your opponent has consequences

The attempted assassination of Donald Trump didn't happen in a vacuum. The foundation was laid by far left progressive extremists who have unleashed a never ending stream of vile against the former president and current presidential candidate. While the political arena is not for the faint of heart, the issue is not harsh rhetoric nor reacting to differing public policy proposals in the manner of a blood sport. It is the demonization of your opponent to the point they are no longer human. It is seeking to employ the strategy of any means necessary at any cost for victory. It is the rejection of rationality beyond any modicum of decency and the embrace of political violence to accomplish the political goal. Not words or amicable disagreement but actual violence. This is the new paradigm unleashed by political elitists who view themselves as intellectually and morally superior to the very people they pledge to serve.

Political violence is never acceptable and must be condemned without equivocation. It cannot become the norm. Harsh words are spoken in the public arena and are often course. While some may be distasteful or intemperate, that again is the reality of polices. The demonization of Donald Trump has given license to his opponents to take physical action against him even at the cost of our republic. This extends to his supporters. The effort to go after an opponent with false stories of treason such as Russian collusion, two impeachments, civil lawsuits funded by opponents and the weaponization of the justice system to spawn four indictments based on novel legal theories in order to redefine a fellow American as less than human. The ongoing rhetoric from the left is responsible. To be clear, it is not so called "dog whistles" or assertions that may have two meanings, but actual calls for violence against the former President, referring to him as Hitler and calling him a threat to democracy. This must end now.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to President Trump for his recovery from yesterday's assassination attempt and for the innocent victims who sustained injuries with one losing his life simply for attending a rally. We not only ask but demand that the radical left progressives stand down with threats of violence. For those who will not, we call on the Department of Justice to prosecute those promoting or engaging in violence to the fullest extent of the law. The people, Donald Trump and those who support him have a right to express their political views without being victims of violence by those who disagree. Our republic deserves nothing less.
