October 25, 2010
Elmont Library, 1301 Hempstead Turnpike, Elmont, NY 11003
Tonight the NCCA and the Argo Civic Association of Elmont held a Candidates debate with candidates for the 21st Assembly District, Ed Ra (R,I,C, Taxpayer Party), Pat Nicolosi (D) and Mimi Pierre Johnson (WF). The debate was spirited and at times aggressive. The candidates answered questions from the audience and from a moderator. Most the questions addressed fiscal issues. It was an exciting night as all three candidates sparred over how to address high taxes and spending. We would like to thank all three candidates and recognize their effort by entering into the political arena.
Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY4) and her challenger Fran Becker (R) also addressed the audience over fiscal issues such as the healthcare bill, the stimulus and federal spending. Both sharply contrasted the choice between their political philosophy and the need to decide whether to stay the course or change course with the President's agenda. We would like to thank both candidates for addressing issues that are important to voters in the 4th Congressional district.
In the Seventh State Senatorial District, Craig Johnson (D) was unable to attend. His challenger Jack Martins (R.I.C.) addressed the excessive Medicaid spending and the burden of property taxes facing Nassau County taxpayers. He made it clear after responding to questions that he will focus on taxes and will make the hard choices to deliver tax relief. We would like to thank Jack Martins to appearing at the meeting and giving detailed answers.
What a great night it was for the voters and for us. The audience was outstanding. It was great to have such a knowledgeable and engaged audience. Thank you!!
