Cold Blooded Murder

The killing of a cop and grandfather

This past Tuesday, the face of evil once again appeared in our midst. Nassau County Police reported that ex-convict Darrell Fuller shot and killed Nassau County Police Officer Arthur Lopez during a traffic stop. Fuller then carjacked a vehicle driven by Raymond Facey and shot him execution style in the head killing him. Fuller was later apprehended in Queens by a joint task force of Nassau County and New York City Police with two self inflicted gun shot wounds to the chest.

Officer Lopez was only 29 years old and leaves behind his parents & sister. Mr. Facey a grandfather who pulled over to talk to his daughter leaves behind his wife, three daughters, a son and two grand children.

There are several questions that need to be answered; Why was Fuller who has a lengthy rap sheet including a conviction for attempted murder out on the streets? What type of climate exists in this state when a miscreant like Fuller without filching felt it was OK to calmly assassinate a uniformed Police Officer then execute a grandfather? The Governor and the state legislature need to examine whether it was wise to substantially weaken the Rockefeller drug laws, empty our prisons relying more on paroling criminals and refusing to reenact the state's death penalty statute.

Fuller is a cowardly enemy of society who deserves to be treated like a domestic terrorist. The consequences are costly; a young Police Officer's life is snuffed out and a family no longer has their grandfather. Let's keep their memories alive by holding our elected leaders accountable to hold criminals responsible for their actions.
