NYC Council Speaker Johnson Gives Hate to First Responders
Targets Christians based on their belief
NYC Council Speaker Cory Johnson again launched a disgraceful
hate filled attack on the charitable Christian group, Samaritan's Purse
which opened up a field hospital in Central Park in coordination
with Mount-Sinai Health System to provide treatment to those
diagnosed with Covid 19. The charitable group is run by Pastor Franklin Graham, the son of the evangelist Billy Graham,
pastor to America's Presidents. The group offers its services
for free and provides the highest quality health care through
out the world during times of crisis. Their offense has nothing
to do with their actions, it's what they
believe.
“It is time for Samaritan’s
Purse to leave NYC,” he tweeted Friday. “This group, led by the
notoriously bigoted, hate-spewing Franklin Graham, came at a
time when our city couldn’t in good conscience turn away any
offer of help. That time has passed. Their continued presence
here is an affront to our values of inclusion, and is painful
for all New Yorkers who care deeply about the LGBTQ community.
”
As a Christian organization, the group believes that marriage is
between one biological man and one biological women which is
consistent with mainstream Christian teachings. Just like the
bullies who went after Chick fill-A based on the company founder's
Christian belief on marriage, Cory Johnson also lacks any
understanding of the First Amendment, established case law and
the other elements of the Supreme Court's decision
legalizing gay marriage. The decision affirmed the right of
Christians and Christian entities to hold and express their view
of marriage without being smeared as bigots. Again like with
Chick fil-A, there is absolutely no evidence that the group ever
provided anything less then high quality health care no matter a
person's background. This is called Christian Agape love.
Johnson's outright stupidity and lack of gravitas in emblematic
with many of our elected leaders in New York.
The famed
evangelist Billy Graham held crusades at New York's Madison
Square Garden that brought the Gospel to tens of thousands of
New Yorkers. He stood up against racial prejudice and ethnic
bigotry at a time when division was accepted in our country. Now
his son is carrying on the legacy of Christianity by helping the
sick, providing free services to New York City residents and
preaching the gospel. After treating hundreds of New Yorkers
with the deadly Covid virus and with their work now
finished, Samaritan's Purse is getting ready to leave New York. Instead
of playing a Twitter troll with cheap petty statements, perhaps
Cory Johnson could show some gratitude and say thank you. We
will say it for him; Thank you Samaritan's Purse for doing God's
work and helping New York. We truly appreciate it.
