Trump Triumphs

The greatest political comeback of all time

This past election made history in so many different ways. A candidate with all forces arrayed against him and who remained the discounted under dog, defied all odds to win the 2024 Presidential election. Not only did he win the electoral college by an electoral landslide, 312-226 (Trump 31 states, Harris 19 states), he won the popular vote by 2.28 million votes. He was only the second Republican to win the popular vote since George W. Bush in 2004. He also won the highest number of votes for a Republican Presidential candidate, 77,303,573. Out of three elections, this was his highest vote share. He became one of only two ex-Presidents to win a second non-consecutive term. The last time this occurred was when Grover Cleveland won a second non-consecutive term in 1893. He was the first candidate to win election after being convicted of multiple felonies and the first with four politically motivated criminal indictments in three separate jurisdictions. He was the first President who was impeached twice to win re-election. He was the first President to face five assassination attempts before winning re-election. He was one of only two presidential candidates to have been shot. The other was Teddy Roosevelt in 1912 when he was running for a third term.

The effort to thwart Donald J Trump began shortly after his first election in 2016. A conspiracy hatched by then President Barak H. Obama and losing candidate Hillary Clinton planted the false narrative of Russian collusion by Trump in order to win the 2016 Presidential election. After a two year investigation by Special Counsel Robert Mueller, no Russian Collusion was found. In 2019, Trump was impeached by the Democrat House for a phone call with Ukrainian President Zelensky over his concern involving criminal conduct by then Vice President Joseph Biden. No Republican House members voted for the impeachment. Trump was later acquitted by the Senate. In January 2021, Trump was impeached again one week prior to the end of his term in office for the riot at the capitol. The article of impeachment was incitement of insurrection. Trump was again acquitted by the Senate in February 2021 after he was out of office.

Before and after leaving office, Trump became the subject of numerous civil complaints. One in particular involved J Eugene Carroll who claimed that Trump sexually assaulted her over thirty years ago inside a dressing room at a Department Store, Berdoff Goodman in the 1990s. Trump has vehemently denied the allegations. Trump was later found liable for sexual abuse and ordered to pay her $5 million dollars. When Mr. Trump publically denied the allegations after the verdict saying, "I've never met this person in my life," Carroll is "not my type" and the incident "never happened", she filed a 2nd suit for defamation later being awarded $83 million dollars. Both cases are currently under appeal. The presiding judge in both cases is Judge Lewis Kaplan, a Democrat who was appointed by President Bill Clinton. Billionaire Linked In co-founder Reid Hoffman funded Carroll's case via a non for profit group he funds, American Future Republic.

Another controversial civil case is the one filed by New York Attorney General Letisha James against Trump's business in September 2022. AG James ran for election promising to target Trump actually saying, "Trump should be indicated on criminal charges". After his election in 2016, she referred to him as an "illegitimate president" and vowed to "use every area of the law to investigate President Trump and his business transactions and that of his family as well". Her long history of bias and hostility against Trump is well documented in a bar complaint filed in February by New York Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY). Thus when she brought a civil action against Mr. Trump for allegedly over valuing his businesses for favorable loans, not only did her motivation come under question but the novel legal theory was beyond dubious. While the Trump Organization clearly told banks to do their due diligence in verifying his fiscal statements prior to loan approval, the involved banks did so and approved numerous loans making hefty profits. No one financial institution lost money and the statute for consumer fraud was never brought against any similar situated business entities. Therefore it appeared to be politically motivated based on James history of animus toward Trump and the novel legal theory behind the legal action. Even Judge Engoran acted in a manner highly prejudicial to Trump. In particular, he found that Mar Logo in Florida was only worth $18-27.6 million based on the county assessor's office even though that assessment has nothing to do with the actual selling price once a parcel goes on the market. A real estate broker from West Palm Beach, Rosalind Clarke estimated the sales price as $500 million in December 2023. The Judge found the Trump organization liable and fined Mr. Trump an astonishing $354 million. With interest, the amount potentially could be much higher. Due to the amount of the fine, there is a strong basis for support an Eighth Amendment violation The case is currently on appeal.

Another highly partisan operator, New York County District Attorney Alvin Bragg was the first to indict Mr. Trump in April, 2023, on thirty four felony counts. The case centered around Mr. Trump's payment to Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence regarding her allegation that she and Mr. Trump had an affair. Mr. Trump denied the allegation. The payments were made by his business and are fairly common. No campaign funds were used and the Federal Election Commission declined to take any action along with the Department of Justice (DOJ). His predecessor, Cyrus Vance Jr. decided not to bring the case and Bragg himself initially took the same position before later indicating Trump. The case involved a never before used novel legal theory, an extension of the statute of limitations and the up charging of criminal charges. Bragg who worked with AG James and won election pushing woke criminal policies, has often downgraded criminal charges from felonies to misdemeanors not the other way around. The legal theory involves the argument that Trump falsified business records in order to cover up another crime which was never specified in the indictment. This argument allowed an initial misdemeanor to be upgraded to a felony. As to the expired statute of limitations, the argument was that the statute was tolled during the time Trump was President as he was not residing in New York for four years. This is why this case was referred to by legal scholars as the "resurrected zombie" case. Mr. Trump was later found guilty on all 34 felony county by a jury in one of the most Democrat counties, tried by the former  Mathew Collangelo who left his number three position as the Biden DOJ just to try Trump and work for a higly partisan Democrat DA. The case which was presided over by a highly conflicted life long Democrat Judge, Juan Merchan was riddled with reversible error. The jury instructions allowed jurors to decide what the potential crime Trump was trying to cover up and accordingly, the verdict defining that crime was not unanimous. The case is currently active with a dismissal motion pending due to these reversible errors and the Supreme court decision on Presidential immunity.

Jack Smith was appointed as a Special Counsel by Merck Garland in order to investigate Trump's role in the January 6th riot at the capital and whether Trump retained classified records after leaving office. Mr. Smith has a long history of questionable behavior as a prosecutor and had one of his convictions over turned unanimously by the US Supreme Court (SCOTUS).  His first indictment involved a novel claim that Trump as President was working to unlawfully overturn the results of the 2020 Presidential election. Presidential candidates have a lawful right to question election results. The Electoral Count Act of 1877 (Amended in 2022) also lays out procedures for contesting presidential elections. Congressional Democrats have utilized this law various times to raise objections. After Mr. Trump filed an appeal, the US Supreme Court (SCOTUS) ruled that Presidents have absolute immunity from criminal prosecution for those official acts within the inner sphere of constitutional authority and for those acts that fall in the outer parameter, there is a presumption of immunity. As a result, Jack Smith issued a superseding indictment now referring to then President Trump as candidate trump in order to keep the case alive after the ruling from SCOTUS. His 2nd indictment involved the allegation that Mr. Trump unlawfully maintained classified records at Mar Logo which was raided by his office, a first against a former President. Mr. Trump was actually authorized to maintain his own records upon leaving office based on the Presidential Records Act. Instead of resolving any dispute within the framework of the National Archives and the Presidential Records Act, Jack Smith sought to use the espionage Act against a former president which was novel to say the least. When then former Vice President and Senator Biden stored classified records at multiple locations with absolutely no legal authority, the special counsel in the case declined to bring charges due to Biden's cognitive state even though he remains President. The case against Mr. trump was later dismissed by Judge cannon as Mr. Smith was never confirmed by congress as a US Attorney and the Special Counsel stature expired. Therefore she found that he had no authority to bring criminal charges. Smith has moved to dismiss both cases in light of the election results.

Fanni Willis was the last to indict Mr. trump and multiple co-defendants in their effort to contest the 2020 Presidential election in the state of Georgia. The indictment is another absurdity claiming that Trump acting in a conspiracy with others sought to illegally over turn the 2020 Presidential election results in Georgia. History is replete with candidates questioning the results and the administration of elections since the founding of the Republic. Previous efforts questioning the results of a Presidential election occurred in Bush-Gore and Trump-Clinton even involving congress. Since the indictment, Fanni Willis has been caught up in a scandal involving one of the prosecutors she hired and she is fighting an effort to remove her entire office from the case. She is also under investigation for unethical conduct by the Georgia Legislature. The case will likely be dismissed at a future date consistent with the election and the ruling from SCOTUS.

Donald Trump survived an assassin's bullet at his rally in Butler Pennsylvania in July after being shot in the ear. Three rally goers were also wounded with one who lost is life protecting his wife & daughters. The shooter was killed and it was later revealed that various Secret Service protocols were violated. Mr. Trump did not receive adequate protection as a presidential candidate even though there is a history of three assassination attempts and untrained agents from the department of Homeland Security (DHS) were used for his protection detail. In September, Mr. trump again survived another assassination attempt at his residence in Mar Logo. Several of his rallies had to be cancelled or downsized after the July assassination attempt as there was an insufficient number of Secret Service agents necessary to provide security.

Even thought Mr. Trump did well in his one and only debate with President Biden in June, the pundits called Harris the victor in their debate in September. Not a surprise considering the negative press Trump received as compared to Harris. The Media Research Center analyzed the coverage and found that Donald Trump received 85% negative coverage while Harris received 78% positive coverage. When debating Harris, Trump had to actually debate the moderators who facts checked him but did not fact check Harris. At various times during the campaign, highly inflammatory false allegations were made against Mr. Trump linking him to Hitler, claiming he praised Hitler, that he bashed veterans and Biden & Harris repeating the long debunked lie regarding Charlottesville claiming Trump referred to protestors and Klan/Nazis as fine people on both sides protesting the removal of monuments. He also had several establishment Republicans trying to sabotage his campaign such as Liz Cheney and others. His campaign and affiliated groups raised 1.8 Billion compared to Harris and affiliated groups who raised 2.9 billion.

With all the odds against him including history and an array of the establishment, Donald j Trump defied all the odds to win the presidency in the greatest comeback of all time. Those who believe in God and the circumstances surrounding the founding of our republic believe our leaders are ordained by God whether they are a Democrat or Republican. It is the belief that God raises up Kings and can bring down Kings. He can allow good Kings or bad Kings to take the throne. No different involving a President. The lesson here is straight forward, in the end, it is up to God who becomes President no matter what the odds. This is a perfect example at work. God bless America.
